HYDERABAD: With illegal constructions mushrooming even in the buffer zone of Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR), the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) said no temporary or permanent construction is allowed within 50 feet (15 metres) on either side of ORR.
The metropolitan authority said the 50 feet buffer is meant for greenery, not for any construction. The authority warned the land owners on raising unauthorised structures and has asked respective gram panchayats and municipalities to strictly implement the rule.
HMDA metropolitan commissioner Arvind Kumar held a review meeting with Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) officials on Wednesday. The commissioner said there were guidelines and orders on permitting structures along the ORR, which clearly mandates a 50 feet buffer zone.
Gram panchayats and municipalities have to permit the constructions leaving the required 15 metres set back, the metropolitan commissioner said. The land owners have been asked to get permissions by showing buffer zones as greenery space.
“Even hoardings, unipoles, telecom poles, power transformers, and other temporary structures are not allowed in the buffer zone. If there are any violations such as compound walls, they should be removed immediately,” Arvind Kumar said.
