Google is planning to add Messenger Chat heads-like feature to its Google App. With Android 11 Beta preview release, the company has already showcased the new Bubbles feature that will maximize the multi-tasking capabilities of the operating system. Now, 9to5Google has reported that the latest beta build of Google app contains the codes for chat head.
According to the APK insight provided by 9to5Google, version 11.12 of the Google app contains two new strings of codes. One string is for Chat head tutorial that reads ‘Tap to talk to your Assistant, Drag to move or dismiss’ and the second string is for Chat head dismiss area where users will drag the Chat head to remove it from the home screen, similar to what we do with the Facebook Messenger Chat head feature.
In addition to that, 9to5Google somehow managed to enable the feature from the source code and it seems to be in the early phase as of now. Enabling the feature brought a Chat head on the home screen with current Google Assistant logo and tapping on it opens up the regular Google Assistant windows on the bottom half of the screen. We expect that Google will add more functionalities to it once they decide to implement it in the final release.
If Google finally brings the Chat head feature to Google Assistant, it will be a really handy feature to have as users can simply tap on the Chat head to bring up the Google Assistant and ask them to add a calendar based on the recent email or take a note for a recipe or even set a reminder for something without jumping between apps.
